Dr. Theresa Checkley – Athabasca Eye Doctor
Dr. Theresa Checkley attended the University of Alberta and received her Bachelor of Science degree, she majored in biological sciences and minored in physical sciences. After graduating, Dr. Checkley was accepted to the optometry program at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove Oregon, where she graduated with honors with distinction.
Her training brought her to an array of different clinics; including, a laser eye surgery clinic, a multi-doctor, rural private clinic, a contact lens clinic and a Veterans Administration Hospital. It was at this hospital in Lexington Kentucky where she discovered her passion for the diagnosis and management of ocular disease; including but not limited to, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, cataracts and dry eyes.
In Dr. Checkley’s down time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, THREE dogs and her cat. When she’s not spending time at home she enjoys camping, hiking, snowboarding, stand-up paddle boarding and playing ringette. She loves to travel and to find new places to eat, she’s a big foodie. Do you have any food recommendations for her to try? A new campground or hike to check out? Let her know!
This Athabasca Eye Doctor looks forward to CHECKing your eyes 😉
